Softex Omnipass 6.x IE 8 Support

Unfortunately Softex Incorporated is a typical Company not interessted in end user customer support. Rather then bringing free updates they sell a new version everytime something changes. Same thing with IE8, they dont even have an updated version that works with IE8. Not even the newest Omnipass Version 6.5.

In order to enable support for Internet Explorer after installing Omnipass 6, you need to open the registry by going to start -> run and typing regedit. Then scroll down to hkey local machine/software/softex/omnipass and click on Omnipass and change the entry EnumAllClass from 0 to 1 then close the registry and restart Omnipass by right clicking on the yellow Omnipass key and selecting Exit. Also restart the Softex Omnipass Service by going to start -> run ->and typing services.msc. Look for Omnipass Service and rightclick on it and “Restart”. Then go to start -> programs -> softex and start Omnipass again. Sites that you had stored with Firefox or IE7 may or may not work with IE8 and you may have to re remember them.

Hope this helps and if anyone knows good alternatives to Omnipass let me know. I realy dont appreciate the way Softex Incorporated does Business.

You have talked right from my heart! … Softex is one of the most user unfriendly companies I ever have seen. – I once have bought an Omnipass update, but I now can delete it, because new updates (which then will work with a small new update of Firefox or of IE) take a very long time to be released – and also you need to pay them again. – No wonder why users are looking for cracks or illegal copys of Omnipass!

Also I’m very sad about the circumstance, that Omnipass still does not work: either with Windows 7, nor with Firefox v3.5.x, nor with IE8! … Companies developing fingerprint software seem to have big difficulties in adapting their software if a small change in browsers was made.

Therefor it would be better, if companies like Mozilla or Microsoft are developing fingerprint features for their browsers themself! … Finally most new notebooks are equipped with fingerprint drivers – and it would be a great advantage for users not only to log into Windows with them, but also would be able to manage passwords with their fingertips.

An alternativ to Omnipass might be the “Asus Security Protect Manager”, which comes with new ASUS Notebooks with fingerprint sensor – and which is currently not working under Win7, but under Vista. (And it works not only with original ASUS motherboards, but also with most other Notebooks and PCs.) – I somewhere have found the information, that it is from Verisoft (“Verisoft Access Manager”), but itself says in its Info: “Copyright 2002-2006 Bioscrypt Inc.”. – The ASPM has a great varity of options, works fine with IE 8, but seems to have some problems with Firefox v3.5.2 – and with some applications using their own password-windows. – It’s much better than current Omnipass under XP and VISTA, but is still not adapted to Win7. … But I also hope for a quick Omnipass release which will work under Win7, IE8 and Firefox 3.5.x. (Maybe someone knows a third alternative.)

Thanks for your help, this was great! You saved me much time and energy. I too have found Softex to have poor customer service, in fact I was told by their support one time that it was not possible to recover from an issue … so I ended up trying anyway … some editting of the registry … and my problem was solved.
